Pagoda's first air shipment of Chilean cherries has arrived

On November 1st, the first batch of Chilean cherries imported by air by Frutacloud officially arrived at the Shanghai Huizhan Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market, and the Chilean cherry season was officially launched. The early variety Brooks arrived this time, and the specifications include J/2J/3J. The goods are in good condition, and the fruits have high hardness, good color, and normal Brix content. They are snapped up upon arrival.

According to the official forecast released by the Chilean Cherry Association of the Export Association of Chilean Fruit Merchants (ASOEX), Chile will export about 440,000 tons of fresh cherries to the global market this season, an increase of 25% from the previous quarter's export volume of about 350,000 tons. The export period will continue until the seventh week.

In terms of modes of transportation, most exporters will adopt different logistics solutions this season to strive for higher transportation efficiency. Regarding air transportation, there will be ordinary air transportation and charter flights, and air transportation is the fastest time-sensitive mode of transportation. It is reported that there is enough space this year, and there is no need to worry about capacity. But the freight is high, which will have a greater impact on the cost and price of air cargo.

For maritime transportation, in addition to the more common container ship transportation, there will be more charter shipping to complement the transportation. The main arrival ports of charter ships are Dalian Port, Taizhou Port, etc., which can effectively avoid congestion. But different from container ships that load and unload in units of "containers", charter ships are based on "trays", which may affect the speed of unloading to a certain extent.

In addition, there is also a form of sea-air combined transportation. The route is mainly chartered from Chile to the United States, and then from the United States to China. Sea-air combined transport will be more time-efficient than sea transport alone, which is perfect for early and mid-season arrival and staggered arrival with container shipping. However, from the perspective of the cold chain, although the container ship has the lowest timeliness, the cooling effect is the best.

In terms of variety, the early arrivals will be Royal Dawn/Santina, and the medium term will focus on Lapins. The late season will mainly work with Sweet Heart and Regina. The Chilean cherry varieties expected to export more this season are Lapins, Santina, and Regina.

The Lunar New Year in 2023 is relatively early, and the Spring Festival falls on January 22. Therefore, keeping the pace of sales right will be the top priority of Chilean cherries this season.
