Lechelle Earl - Onions Australia

Australian onion harvest should not be affected by rain and floods

The eastern coast of Australia as well northern Tasmania continues to deal with heavy rain and flooding, luckily the onion harvest does not seem to be too badly affected.

"The onion harvest has started in Queensland, the main production is in the Lockyer Valley and they haven’t had as much rain," said Lechelle Earl, CEO at Onions Australia.

"It is very wet in Victoria  and Tasmania, however the onion harvest hasn’t started yet, those onions are still growing and we are still on track for a good harvest.

"All the plantings are doing well despite the wet and cold. The South Australian crop will not be impacted by the river floods, Tasmanian crops are also looking good."
