"Linhai tangerine produced in Taizhou in the new season, its sweetness has increased by 20 to 30%”

The sweetness is high and slightly sour, and the taste is flavorful with fewer fibers, which is characteristic of Wenzhou mandarins. This variety is cultivated in Zhejiang, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Fujian and Hubei, and the production seasons of each producing area are different, and the flavors are also slightly different. In order to understand the information of the new season of Wenzhou mandarins in the Taizhou production area, Zhejiang Province, Freshplaza spoke to Mr. Feng Zhansheng of Taizhou Jiasheng Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd.

"Our main business is Wenzhou mandarin oranges produced in Yongquan Town, Linhai City, Taizhou, also known as Linhai tangerines, which are geographical indication products. The production season is from late October to December 20. Usually, the taste will be particularly good after November. The best-tasting period is about 45 days. This year, due to the continuous dry weather in the production area, the ripening season has been delayed, the fruit shape is small, and the yield was reduced by at least 50% compared with a normal year. The price at the origin of high-quality fruit has increased from ¥12/kg last year. It has risen to the current ¥20/kg, an increase of more than 40%. I believe the market price will rise accordingly." Mr. Feng outlined the situation of the new production season.

"The sweetness of tangerines this year is high, and the internal quality and taste are better than in previous years. We used fruit sorting machines to identify the sweetness and acidity. This batch of tangerines, which was just harvested in late October, was measured to have a sugar content of 11 degrees, and the sweetest even reached 15 degrees. In the same period of previous years, fruits with a sweetness of about 10 degrees accounted for a large proportion, and it would take until mid-November to reach the current level. This year, the sweetness has increased by 20%-30%. We estimate that by December, a certain proportion of fruits will reach 16 or 17 degrees sweetness."

In order to make the tangerine more durable, Jiasheng Eco-Agriculture puts a PVC color-printed bag on each fruit, which makes the physical preservation effect better. Fruits do not lose moisture easily, and if one rots, it will not cross-infect others.

"The Linhai tangerines produced in Taizhou have sold about 2,000-2,500 tons per year in recent years. The sales volume is not particularly large, but its taste is better, so we chose it as the main product. In addition, we also have Guangxi Orah mandarin, Maogu mandarin and other products, followed by Hongmeiren, Chunjian and other varieties. Due to the short sales period of a single variety, "expansion of products" is our future goal. "

Taizhou Jiasheng Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd. sells different citrus varieties under the brand of "Donghaibaoju".
