Uruguay sends its first shipment of fresh blueberries to Israel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported through its Twitter account that, after Israel granted Uruguay the authorization to export blueberries to their country this year, Uruguay sent its first shipment of fresh Uruguayan blueberries to Israel on Wednesday. This first shipment consisted of a net weight of 675 kilos of blueberries (898 kilos gross) harvested in the 2022 season.

“This first shipment reaffirms Uruguay's goal of diversifying and opening markets for its production, expanding its international insertion as a sustainable producer of high-quality food,” the Chancellery tweeted. "Uruguay and Israel have a Free Trade Agreement in force, and Israel is one of the main markets for Uruguayan exports. In October, exports to Israel grew by 120% compared to 2021 and reached 78,777,560 dollars," he stated.
