Planasa's novelties in Fruit Attraction 2022

RedSayra and Red Samanta strawberries, two new raspberry varieties, and the formation of a company in South Africa

Planasa will arrive at a new edition of Fruit Attraction with several novelties in its portfolio. "In addition to the launches of the RedSayra and Red Samantha strawberry varieties, which are having a very good reception in Spain and Italy, the breeding company has two raspberry varieties in the pre-launch phase: Plapink 14103 and Plapink 14116."

"These four new varieties are structured under the brand Planasa Genetics, which groups the different attributes of the Planasa's genetic material (precocity, yield, caliber, shelf life, and quality) in different seals (Earliness, Yield, Jumbo, Shelf life, and Premium), according to their genetic characteristics."

In this sense, these new products are defined and classified within Planasa Genetics as follows:

RedSayra® (Plared 15121) is a new variety selected for its precocity and high linear production during its cultivation cycle (Planasa Earliness and Planasa Yield).
Red Samantha® (Plared 13120) is a seasonal strawberry that stands out mainly for yielding very high-quality products from the end of January (Premium Planasa and Yield Planasa).
"The specific characteristics of both have been validated for more than five years in R&D centers, farmer plots, and research centers, with very good results."

Planasa will also present two new raspberries varieties with different positions and market objectives:

Plapink 14103 is a winter variety that yields very good-tasting quality fruit. It has a high production yield and is easily harvested, reducing collection costs. It has a good pre-harvest and post-harvest shelf life.
Plapink 14116 is a raspberry that produces two harvests a year and that, thanks to its plasticity, can start producing fruits from week 10 of the year. It is very productive and has a high concentration of fruits, which reduces harvesting costs. Like Plapink 14103, it stands out for its good pre-harvest and post-harvest shelf life.

In accordance with its growth strategy, the company has established Planasa South Africa, with the aim of consolidating its presence and that of its genetics in the southern area of Africa, mainly in Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, stated David Ortiz, general director of the company. The local technical team will allow the company to reinforce the support to its licensees by giving them continuity in the agronomic support and monitoring of the varieties, especially the blueberry varieties that are in the middle of their consolidation process in the area.
