The brothers Jacques Luteijn (Growers Packers) and André Luteijn (Aurora Australis) have Joined forces to supply Chilean cherries to retail in Europe.
Both brothers grew up together on a fruit farm company in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (at the border of Belgium and the Netherlands), where sustainability and the importance of quality fruit for a satisfied consumer were taught by their father.
Jacques is specialized in the distribution of Fresh berries, Cherries and Pears in Europe. André has been Growing and packing top quality cherries and other fruits from Chile for more than 30 years now and mainly exports them to Asia, the main one being China.
With a Production capacity of more than 20 containers of cherries per day, Aurora Australis is one of the largest cherry players in the market.
Chilean Cherries in the winter season for the European consumer
Currently the most important production areas are in full bloom and the setting of the first cherries in the early areas looks good. Production growth of approximately 20% is expected for the coming season. The cold winter has ensured sufficient cold hours, which benefits the setting. In addition, the growth of new young productive plantations and the strong flower buds as a result of balanced production in 2021 contribute to the expected production growth for the 2022 harvest.
With the additional expansion of Packing machines to pack in consumer packs in the state-of-the-art Packstation in Chile, Aurora is now completely ready to supply the European retail as well. Most cherries have an excellent quality on the trees, but getting these cherries to the consumer perfectly is a job for specialists.
Accumulated Know-How in growing and packing cherries during the last 30 years, combined with optimal post-harvest treatments, must guarantee the highest-possible-quality in the market.
For example, the cherries are harvested in picking buckets that are only emptied into water in the packing station, in order to minimize the so-called "pitting".
The sorting line is equipped with the latest software with cameras that shoot each cherry many times to judge the color and quality, and classify automatically in the correct grade.
All our products are available under your private label in the packaging that you require. Standard packaging is 2.5kg and 5kg carton boxes.
