"We are very satisfied with how the two-day event went," commented Giampaolo Dal Pane, president of the Consortium, “with all the available places sold out and an open dialogue among technicians, operators and traders. But above all, we are satisfied with how the Dorì is going. The harvest began a week ago in Latina (Lazio region), while in Romagna it started on 21 September."

Unitec plant at the company Granfrutta Zani

This year, a Dorì production of 4500 tons is expected. "The average yield in the field, so far, is 32 tons per hectare, but we are just at the beginning, and more accurate calculations can only be made at the end. The quality is very good, and the rain cloths, which also provide shade, have favored the plants by counteracting sunstroke in the middle of summer,” he added.

Dal Pane, during one of the field visits, mentioned that covering with tarps is mandatory, useful not only for rain and hail, but also to protect the plant from excessively high temperatures.

Among the attendees, there were also about 30 technicians and farmers from region Calabria, who were very interested in the variety, of which some are already growing them, and others are potentially new producers.

After the on-site visits, the visitors moved on to the Granfrutta Zani plant. The hosts were Sandro and Elisa Zani, as well as Granfrutta Zani president Giuliano Donati. At the plant, Unitec's sorting plant was shown, illustrated by Tommaso Donati during a brief wrap-up session. Different types of Dorì packaging were also displayed in the conference room.
