New licenses granted for table grape varieties Autumn King and Scarlet Royal

The California Table Grape Commission (commission) has decided to further implement its varietal promotion and enforcement strategy for the protected seedless table grape varieties ‘Autumn King’, ‘Scarlet Royal’, and ‘Sweet Scarlet’ through two specific initiatives.

First, for the ‘Autumn King’ and ‘Scarlet Royal’ varieties, new licenses will be granted for an extra 100 hectares of each variety. For this purpose, Agrimeca will continue to be the reference and will collect applications from interested growers.

Second, regarding existing unauthorized productions, the commission has launched a regularization program allowing interested growers to enter into specific settlement agreements. Growers interested in regularization may contact Trevisan & Cuonzo law firm appointed by the commission to handle the settlement phase.

The aim remains to ensure that growers operate in a legal and clear context. Therefore, the commission will continue to perform ongoing market monitoring, focused on finding any unauthorized use of its protected varieties and consequently any infringement of its intellectual property rights.
