ZARA, the latest brand to use Piñatex pineapple leather

In Spain, fast fashion giant ZARA is using pineapple-based vegan leather called Piñatex in a range of sneakers, sandals and accessories. According to London’s Ananas Anam, which produces the leather alternative, the material is the most sustainable plant-based leather alternative available at scale.

Several brands, including Nike and H&M, have also used Piñatex in their products. “Each brand collaboration is presenting its own set of new and exciting challenges,” Melanie Broyé-Engelkes, CEO of Ananas Anam, recently told the publication. “We are big believers in ‘changing giants from the inside’ to create impact at scale.”
