Italian cauliflower in full harvest

This is the season for Italian cauliflowers, which are currently in the harvesting phase. HM. CLAUSE, ever committed to the brassica sector, is closely following the progress of two of its own varietal selections: Deepti F1, already known to the specialised public in the sector, and Johny F1, this year's novelty.

Johny F1 cauliflower has an innovative solution to challenge the hot weather. It is new in the summer white segment, with a 60-65 days cycle after transplantation and harvest time in September, which is the most unfavorable harvest period for this species, which has been torrid and droughty again this year.

The variety belongs to the tropical category, i.e., it does not need cold induction to differentiate the inflorescence; it is of medium vigor, with an erect habit, corymbs that do not crumble and excellent compactness and heat resistance.

Johny F1

Johny F1 retains its beautiful white color throughout the harvest cycle. It never forms bracts in the corymb, it is not sensitive to tip-burn, all of which, combined with its excellent quality and high specific weight, confirm Johny F1 as being essential in the programming of Italian growers who want to take advantage of a favorable market period.

Its early growth cycle, its high adaptation to the hot summer and autumn periods, its good concentration and excellent yield in the fields make it possible to successfully meet the needs of the fresh market and the industry.

Ultimately, with the Johny F1 variety, HM.CLAUSE confirms its strong commitment to the species in order to meet the demands of growers and processors for product reliability and quality.

Deepti F1 is also a cauliflower belonging to the tropical category. It is very rustic and suitable for summer and early autumn. Deepti F1 is a variety that is harvested in September and October in central and southern Italy. To be more precise, it is a subtropical crop that combines resistance to late summer temperatures with the quality of the corymb, which is a typical feature of autumn/winter varieties.

Deepti F1

During the hot season, which is difficult for all brassicas, Deepti F1 remains a vigorous, upright and rustic plant with numerous leaves that protect the corymb from both strong sunlight and dry air, which could make storage difficult and deteriorate the crop's appearance.

Harvested in September, the heads remain white, with compact, dense florets, allowing the quality and firmness to reach the markets making it possible for producers to improve their economic yield and command much higher prices.

The strengths of the variety can be described as follows: it is a vigorous plant with excellent heat resistance; the leaves are erect and therefore cover the corymb from the sun's rays, especially in hot weather; the corymb, which is always white and pleasing to the eye, has an excellent specific weight and therefore increases the intrinsic yield of the harvest.

Last but not least, Deepti F1 results in a low percentage of waste in the field. This means that almost all plants are harvested in the relatively short cycle of 65-70 days.
