Grand Étal Bio was founded 3 years ago by Antoine Gea. The family business started out as a service provider, but one year ago, it began producing organic French garlic and sweet potatoes. “We will start harvesting the sweet potatoes in about 2 weeks and we are expecting some 80 tons for this season,” explains Melissa Gea.

Slow market
“This month is very calm, we sell less but the market should pick up again in October, as usual. The only difference this year is that sales were really good in August with a very dynamic market.”

Producer, importer and marketer of local products under the brand Grand Étal Bio and Canigou Bio, the farm plans to expand its portfolio with radishes, kohlrabi, organic broccoli and other vegetables coming into production next year to offer a large selection of products. Quality and 100% organic are the priority for Grand Étal Bio which proposes picking and volumes for wholesalers and only works with low stocks renewed each day to guarantee the freshness of the products. Based in Perpignan, the company also exports its production to England, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg and Italy.
