The mango season has commenced with the increasing arrival of Alphonso, Paid and Kesar mango varieties in the Kolhapur APMC market. These mangoes are being brought from the Konkan and other regions. Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes, however, are yet to hit the markets due to the cloudy weather conditions. With increasing supply, the average prices have dropped from roughly Rs 1,200 a dozen to about Rs 400 per dozen. The supply is all set to go up further ahead of the Gudi-Padwa festival on March 21.
According to timesofindia.indiatimes.com, the supply of Pairi mangoes is still very low.
The Alphonso mangoes supply into Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Vashi has increased three-fold compared to March 2022 with the fruit from Devgad, Ratnagiri and Raigad in Konkan belt flooding the market, hindustantimes.com reported.

Climate change, which has been affecting mango yield in Dharwad district for the last four years, is likely to hit the yield very hard this time. Delay in flowering will delay fruit formation and this will mean the supply of mangoes to the market will get delayed.
