Jinzuan pineapple is famous for its high sweetness, fiber-free pulp and smooth taste. Compared with traditional pineapple varieties, it is loved by the market because of its low bromelain content and good eating quality. Domestic Jinzuan pineapple is produced in Hainan Province and Xuwen County, Guangdong. The production season is from the Spring Festival to June or July every year, and it tastes best in April. "Jinzuan Pineapple is in short supply in the market. Because this variety requires high temperatures, modern planting technology and high input costs, the planting area and supply in China have not yet met the market demand, so the market has always been stable and the price is high. At present, the price of origin is about ￥7-10/kg."
According to Mr. Chen, because the planting period last year was still in the pandemic period and the market fluctuated, the planting area and output decreased accordingly, and the supply this season decreased by about 30% compared with past years. At present, the Brix of Jinzuan pineapples has reached 20, and the taste will get better and better with the increase in temperatures, and reach its peak in April, with the Brix as high as 23-24.
"In addition to domestic sales, we are now considering the possibility of exporting Jinzuan pineapples and will go to Italy to participate in the MacFrut in Italy on May 3-5. It is understood that at present, most of the varieties in the European market are MD2 golden pineapples, most of which are imported from Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and other places. The Brix of pineapple is generally 16-18. Considering the long-distance transportation for export, the Brix is usually 14-15 when harvested. In contrast, the Brix of Jinzuan pineapple can reach 23, and it is 18-20 when harvested and the taste is sweeter than MD2 golden pineapple, and the flesh is tender and smooth, which has a certain competitive advantage. "
In terms of logistics, Mr. Chen said that because of the high Brix of Jinzuan pineapple, the storage period is short. In order to ensure freshness and taste, air transportation is more suitable. "If there is interest, we may try to export a small amount in the early stages for testing the water."
Xuwen MuchSweet Produce Cooperative has its own brand "MuchSweet", and its main products include traditional Bali pineapple, MD2 golden pineapple, Jinzuan pineapple, and mango pineapple. Among them, the Bali pineapple has successfully opened up the export market and its export volume has increased year by year. The company has its own standardized planting base, export packaging factory and cold storage, and its sales channels include large supermarkets such as Pagoda and FreshHema, as well as online e-commerce.
