On Friday, the construction of a fruit processing factory for export commenced in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak. Invested by Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Group JSC, the 476 billion VND (over US$20 million) factory is the biggest of its kind in Dak Lak.
Located in Ea Drong commune, Cu M’gar district, the project, which has a total annual capacity of 70,000 tons, is aiming for completion in 18 months. It is expected to benefit farmers in Dak Lak in particular and in the Central Highlands in general, contributing to improving the value of farm produce in the region and playing an important role in increasing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products exported to other countries around the world.
The facility will focus on purchasing and packing fresh fruits such as durian, passion fruit, sweet potato and banana for export to China, Japan, the US, and Australia; and producing and processing frozen fruits for export, especially durian.
