Current harvest forecast

Rio Grande do Norte melon and watermelon exports should drop by 16.6%

According to a projection from the Rio Grande do Norte Fruit Growing Executive Committee (Coex/RN), melon and watermelon exports to the European market are expected to suffer a 16.6% setback in the current harvest, which began last August and continues until April. The forecast estimates the shipment of 300,000 tons to Europe by next month.

In the 2021/2022 harvest, approximately 360,000 tons were shipped to the mainland. Super-inflation on the European continent, market limitations and increased logistics costs are the main factors that impacted the reduction, sources say.
