SPM Bio, an 1-MCP exporter: "These fruits are very popular in the Chinese market"

"We are very optimistic about the 2022/23 plum and prune season in the southern hemisphere "

The 2022/23 plum/prune season in the southern hemisphere has started. With the changes in China's pandemic control policies and the drop in shipping costs, SPM Bio, the company focusing on 1-MCP is very optimistic about the 2022/23 plum and prune season in the southern hemisphere

According to Debby, from the company, Chile is the world's largest exporter of prunes. The peak export of Chilean prunes this season will come between the sixth and eighth weeks of 2023. The estimated export volume of D'Agen prunes this season is 45,766 tons, which is expected to be the second-highest season for Chilean prune exports. China is the main export market for Chilean cherries and prunes. Due to their sweetness and suitable size, Chilean prunes are very popular in the Chinese market. Moreover, prunes are on the market at the end of the cherries season, which perfectly avoids the peak export of cherries.

"South Africa's fresh fruit exports account for 50% of South Africa's total agricultural exports, and the export fruit varieties mainly include citrus, pome fruit and stone fruit. Regardless of time or space distribution, South Africa's fruit resources are very rich.  South African stone fruit supplier forecasts a steady and high-quality fresh fruit export for the 2022/23 season. According to stone fruit suppliers in South Africa, fresh fruit exports in the 2022/23 season will be stable and of high quality. Exporters are forecasting a 4% increase in plums, around 86,000 tonnes, according to the trade body Hortgro. In recent years, South Africa has paid particular attention to expanding the nectarine and plum sectors and plantings of both have increased over the past few years," Debby said. "In addition, sea freight prices are gradually returning to a reasonable range, which will also promote the growth of fruit export trade."

"As the season begins, our orders continue to grow. 1-MCP is a highly effective ethylene inhibitor that can greatly extend the shelf life of stone fruit."

SPM Bio has nearly ten years of experience in the Chinese local market and has obtained sales qualifications in countries such as Argentina and the Dominican Republic. Currently, it is looking for sales representatives in other regions. "In addition to the existing variety of products, we hope to cooperate with more vegetable wholesalers, exporters, packers and agents to contribute to reducing the loss of vegetables and fruits in the supply chain. SPM Bio can also send free samples to test."
