Naturitalia's IFG club varieties

New varieties of grapes, peaches, and flat nectarines to reach other EU countries

Naturitalia's portfolio has recently expanded to include peaches, flat Ondine nectarines and three varieties of IFG grapes. "We always look for products that can meet the needs of both markets and consumers and that are economically sustainable for all operators in the supply chain," says managing director Gabriele Ferri. "With IFG's new peaches, Ondine nectarines and grapes, we are implementing a strategy to protect the sustainability of our crops through varietal innovation."

"Stone fruits and grapes are strategic products for Naturitalia," says Augusto Renella, export coordinator. "With Ondine, we have added a high-quality product that is appealing to consumers that are looking for fruit that is sweet, smells good and a melt-in-the-mouth sensation. In turn, IFG grapes are unique for the market and have some exceptional properties. With these new seedless grapes, we intend to further develop our presence in some key European countries, such as Germany, Scandinavia and the UK."

Naturitalia has chosen to expand its range with three IFG club varieties to improve and specialize its seedless grapes by strengthening its presence in the main export markets of Italian grapes. In the coming years, the acreage will be expanded by more than 65 hectares.

The first to arrive will be the white grape varieties Sugar Crisp and Sweet Globe, characterized by a particularly pleasant taste and crisp flesh. The first plots will be planted in the Apulia region in spring 2023, but further investments in these varieties will also be made in subsequent years. In spring 2024, the red grape variety Sweet Celebration will be planted. It is a round grape with an intense red color and extraordinary quality.

In addition to these grape innovations, the cooperative will also enter the Ondine project in 2023, ASF Edition's premium flat stone fruit brand in collaboration with Frutaria.

"Naturitalia has always been active in stone fruit growing, with a wide range of varieties, a high degree of specialization and a wide sales calendar thanks to plots in several Italian growing regions," says Renella. "We are happy to be part of the small number of market players authorized to grow these patent-protected premium varieties. In the coming years, Naturitalia has committed to growing the Ondine flat nectarine and the Ondine flat peach, with double-digit investments."

Naturitalia is exhibiting in Berlin in Hall 2.2, stand A-10.
