Various options identified for the structural implementation of the fresh food center

Cologne City Council pushes ahead with wholesale market in Marsdorf

In the course of the development of Parkstadt Süd with the extension of the green belt to the Rhine, the current wholesale market in Cologne-Raderthal will have to make way. As a replacement, a modern fresh produce center is to be built in Cologne-Marsdorf. The Cologne City Council has commissioned the city administration to present this fresh produce center in the area north of Toyota-Allee and to conduct a Europe-wide market survey.

In the course of several workshops with representatives of the wholesale market traders and the city administration, various options for the construction of the fresh food center in Cologne-Marsdorf were identified. On the basis of the findings from these workshops, the city administration will now carry out the Europe-wide market survey approved by the Council.

With this market survey, the city wants to approach potential operators of the fresh food center and gain a broad overview of the current market situation and possible market developments in order to be able to further consider these findings for possible implementation models. The market survey also serves to clarify specific questions regarding the planning, construction as well as the operation and, if necessary, the financing of the fresh food center.
