Erich Rohrenbach
Excerpts from the opening speech by Erich Rohrenbach, Chairman of the Obstregion Bodensee e.V., could already be read on Friday, in which he commented on the effects of the ongoing crises. Dr Manfred Büchele, Managing Director of the Competence Center Obstbau-Bodensee, thinks that the food retail trade trying to play its hand, but it is under pressure itself. "We have to think about how we can better bind food retailers to us," says Büchele, which also means fewer imports.

Reluctance to buy leads to cheap offers from retailers
Jens Stechmann, chairman of the federal expert group for fruit growing and the federal committee for fruit and vegetables, also felt a great deal of uncertainty and spoke of a "deep fruit cultivation crisis in Germany". Consumers' reluctance to buy means that food retailers are trying to keep customers in the shops with cheap offers of fruit and vegetables. At the same time, he welcomes the energy and electricity price brake initiated by the federal government, which certainly provides relief.
However, the omission of VAT for fruit and vegetables by Minister Cem Özdemir is not an advantage for flat-rate companies. At the same time, he pointed out to Özdemir in a personal conversation that the intended expansion of the organic share was commendable. However, the minister must not lose sight of the fact that he is also responsible for the remaining 70 percent, i.e. for conventional production.
Nonsense
"This all means that we have to work to convince retailers and supply them with German goods until the autumn. However, I also expect that food retailers will hold back when it comes to importing goods from overseas. That's the only thing that can help us. Everything else is just nonsense," said Stechmann.

Franz Josef Müller, President of the State Association for Commercial Fruit Growers, also expects that the state government or federal governments will make it possible to expand agri-photovoltaics quickly and unbureaucratically, hoping for optimism within the fruit sector.

Great importance of the fruit from Obst vom Bodensee brand
Most recently, State Secretary Sabine Kurtz from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection welcomed those present with the words: "Lake Constance will receive them all. Around 1,200 commercial businesses produce around 250,000 tons of apples here every year. There are good apples all year round; we are talking quality produce. All in all, many people have great associations with the Obst vom Bodensee brand."
