Delegations of US retailers and wholesalers visit Chilean cherries and stone fruit farms

Several delegations of US retailers and wholesalers have made full use of being able to travel again to visit Chilean cherries and stone fruit farms over the past few weeks. The delegations were hosted by Asoex, the Chilean Association of Fruit Exporters as well as their US based team.

Sergio Zamorano, general commercial export manager of Gesex, a stone fruit producer and exporter in Chile, says: “We had an excellent day with Asoex, Retailers and Wholesalers of the US seeing the new developments of stone fruits in Gesex. We appreciate the visit of Asoex together with its president Iván Marambio, Ignacio Caballero Marketing Manager, Claudia Soler of the Cherry Committee, Karen Brux & Allison Myers of the CFFA (Asoex USA) who together with different supermarkets and Wholesalers of the USA accompanied us to one of our fields to see and try our new varieties of white nectarines, yellow and flat peaches.” 

The Chilean cherry and stone fruit producers and exporters Cope Fruit hosted a delegation of US buyers. The technical-commercial team of the company, together with Asoex, received a delegation of buyers from USA supermarkets to see the cherry harvest in the field.

According to Copefrut: “In this instance, topics such as the relevance of the use of technology in orchards and processes, the care of the product, its postharvest and Chile's leadership in cherries, among others, were addressed. Likewise, forms of commercial cooperation were evaluated for a closer approach with the supermarkets of the US market.”
