Mumbai fruit market loaded with produce, lowering prices

The Navi Mumbai fruit market is well stocked with a variety of different fresh produce with oranges and apples leading the way. However, this amply supply has led to the drop in prices for these popular fruit as India heads into winter.

Traders on the market say it is the second year in a row that the market is such good supply at the start of winter. Apple crops were damaged last year, while table grapes are in short supply due to heavy rains.

Oranges are now priced at Rs 60 ($0.7) down from a high of Rs 20 ($1.4) kg in October. Apples are now priced at a low of Rs 80 ($0.98) kg from a high of Rs 180 ($2.21) kg in October.
