Onion prices increase with Indore now being a supply hub for other markets

Now that the festival of Diwali is over, the prices of onion in the Indore market are increasing suddenly. Onions were sold at Rs 40 per kg in the Indore market on Monday. The price of quality onions in the wholesale market has reached Rs 2400 per 100 kgs. In the wholesale market, prices increased by Rs 300 to 400 per 100 kgs in a single day, and the arrival of onion in the market also increased. People are scared as the price of onion increases again. But traders say that onion prices are not likely to go out of control.

The price of onion has increased from Rs 8 to 10 per kg in one day in the market. On Saturday, Devi Ahlyabai sold good quality onion at Rs 19 to 20 per kg in the Holkar wholesale market. It was sold at Rs 23-24 per kg on the same Monday.

At the same time, the arrival of onions in the wholesale market has almost doubled as compared to Saturday. One wholesale market trader said there are currently no onion stocks in South India or Maharashtra, the major onion producing regions of the country. However, Malwa-Nimar farmers have good stocks. That is why Indore has become a supply hub for all markets in the country. Due to the increase in demand, the prices are increasing.
