Turkey targets tangerine exports to reach 650 mln dollars

Turkey closed the year 2021 with an export of 453 million dollars, and the export target for 2022 stands at 650 million dollars. Due to the start of the tangerine season, the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association held a "Mandarin Harvest Ceremony" in Gümüldür, the world famous satsuma tangerine capital of İzmir.

100 out of every 5 tangerines produced in the world are in Turkey. The world-famous Izmir's satsuma tangerine yield increased by 100 percent to 175,000 tons. Turkey now ranks third in tangerine production, after China and Spain. 100 out of 5 tangerines produced in the world are produced in Turkey, that exported 58 percent of the tangerines it produced.
