In 2021, the United States, Germany, and France accounted for 38% of the world's tomato imports

In 2021, the world imported 8,327.57 million kilos of tomatoes for 8,860.02 million euros and an average price of 1.06 €/kg.

The United States led imports with a volume of 1,939.75 million kilos, concentrating 23.29% of the world's share.

It was followed by Germany, with 725.8 million kilos (8.72% ), and France, with 513.76 million kilos (6.17% of the world share).

The fourth largest buyer was Russia with 427 million kilos (5.13%), followed by Pakistan with 404.31 million kilos (4.86%), Iraq with 350.42 million kilos (4.21%), the United Kingdom with 334.78 million kilos (4.02%), the Netherlands with 243.49 million kilos (2.92%), Canada with 200.58 million kilos (2.41%) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 190.21 million kilos (2.28%).

Among the top-ten biggest importers, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands paid the highest prices with 1.97 €/kg, 1.57 €/kg, and 1.38 €/kg, respectively.

Spain was the twelfth largest importer, with 178.16 million kilos worth 156.34 million euros and an average price of 2.14 €/kg.

Suppliers
The United States purchased 1,754 million kilos of tomatoes from Mexico, i.e., 90.42% of its total purchases. It bought 166.89 million kilos from Canada and 10.93 million kilos from the Dominican Republic.

Germany's largest supplier was the Netherlands, with 367.52 million kilos. It was followed by Spain with 163.74 million kilos and Belgium with 65.08 million kilos.

France purchased 357.12 million kilos from Morocco, 87.05 million kilos from Spain, and 26.47 million kilos from Belgium.

In 2021, Spain purchased 80.79 million kilos from Morocco, 57.18 million from Portugal, 20.51 from the Netherlands, 10.35 from Belgium, and 7.16 million kilos of tomatoes from France.
