"This year, due to the long-term high temperature, the production of honey pomelo in some areas has decreased. The fruit did not grow in the early period of swelling, resulting in many small fruits, which is the main factor for the reduction in production. It is gratifying that the local government has adopted artificial rainfall and other measures. Taking these measures, the overall quality of our honey pomelo is still good.
"In addition, our honey pomelo base is located in a unique geographical location, that is, the altitude is low and the climate and temperature conditions are good, so the sweetness and taste will naturally reach the best. And we insist on harvesting at the best taste after fruits ripen. It is believed that it can provide certain market competitiveness for the sales of partners," he said.
The honey pomelo of Fujian Xiangxinglong Fruit and Vegetable Co., Ltd. has been harvested since August, and the production period is 6 months. Over the years, it has been mainly exported to Europe, Southeast Asia and other countries, with an annual export volume of more than 2,000 tons, accounting for about 50% of the export volume. When talking about the export of honey pomelo, Lai said, "Due to many factors such as the pandemic and the war, there are mainly two aspects. On the one hand, domestic logistics resources are in short supply, and freight rates have skyrocketed, which has a substantial impact on the sales of agricultural products. On the other hand, the overseas shipping schedule is tight, and the shipment is long and unstable, which poses certain challenges to this year's sales. But for now, foreign export prices are still stable."
Fujian Xiangxinglong Fruit and Vegetable Co., Ltd. has a planting base of 85.6 hectares. Citrus crops such as honey pomelo, and grapefruit are the main crops. Among them, Guanxi honey pomelo covers 73.86 hectares, with more than 50,000 plants and an annual output of more than 4,000 tons. Grapefruit covers more than 6.7 hectares, with more than 4,000 plants and an annual output of more than 500 tons. Other varieties cover more than 5 hectares with an annual output of more than 300 tons.
