Elena Rogojnikova, The Greenery:

"Record Israeli Greenskin and Hass avocado production thanks to on year and good weather"

The Chilean Hass avocado supply will be much higher this season. "In the 2021/22 season, there should be almost 60% more of these produced than in the previous season. On the other hand, Mexican growers are predicting an eight percent decrease from last season," says Elena Rogojnikova, a buyer at The Greenery in the Netherlands.

"Israel expects a record production of both Greenskin and Hass avocados this season. That's thanks to it being an on year. The weather was also good during flower setting in that country's cultivation areas. Suppliers say there will be ten percent more Greenskins from Israel."

"They began in August with an almost empty market and high prices. So far, it's been fairly stable with virtually no quality complaints and acceptable prices. The Israeli Hass avocado season started last week," continues Elena. "Production is expected to be seven to eight percent higher than last year. And more availability means prices should be slightly friendlier."

"Spain experienced a scorching summer, with temperatures sometimes reaching 40°C. That heat greatly affected its avocado cultivation. There are still the last Hass from Peru and supplies from Mexico, Kenya, and Colombia. Colombian Hass avocados grew by 87% in the first half of 2021 versus the previous year. So, avocado producers there are very optimistic about the 2021/2022 season," concludes Elena.
