The unusual weather conditions of this summer have modified the harvest forecasts for the Coco de Paimpol beans. Although generally expected from early September, the beans are already available in large quantities.
“The situation is complicated for the producers who are faced with low prices while production costs continue to increase. Labor in particular is affected by this increase because the harvest is done exclusively by hand,” explains Pierre Gélébart, product manager at Prince de Bretagne.

“Regarding the Coco de Paimpol, producers do not sow everything at the same time in order to spread out the harvest. But this year’s weather is causing a lot of series to arrive at the same time, and we end up with high-season volumes in the middle of August instead of September. The producers do not even have time to harvest all the beans.”

Luckily, the quality of the products is very good, which compensates somewhat for this particularly complicated situation. “At least, this heatwave will have helped obtain products of great quality. The Coco de Paimpol beans can be affected by high humidity levels that favor the appearance of fungi. That is one thing we do not have to worry about this year!”
In order to meet all the store demands and formats, the Coco de Paimpol beans are found in packaging of 1.5kg, 5 kg and 8 kg.
