The import of fruit transported by the Pingxiang railway port increased by 163% in the first 7 months

According to the China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the Pingxiang railway port transported a total of 47,000 tons of imported fruit in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 163% year-on-year.

Since the beginning of this year, the Pingxiang railway port has seen strong demand for the import and export of fresh goods, predominantly fruits such as dragon fruit, durian, jackfruit, and mangosteen from Southeast Asia, which are favored by domestic consumers. In order to meet the needs of different enterprises for the transportation of fresh goods, the railway department recently put into use a 40-foot railway transport generator box at the Pingxiang railway port.

The generator box is composed of a diesel generator set, fuel oil device, monitoring and control system, etc. It is located in the middle of the train and does not need to be loaded and unloaded. It can supply power to the reefers in the same train set. Once filled with oil, it can continuously provide power for 8 containers, allowing cooling for 300 hours. The reefer box loaded with fresh and live goods is no longer limited by whether it has its own generator or not, and it will not stop cooling for 4 hours when it is disconnected from the power supply.

In view of the fact that fresh goods have high requirements for anti-spoilage and short transportation time, China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd. also optimized the transportation organization, smoothed all transportation links, and relieved the transportation pressure of inbound and outbound traffic at the Pingxiang railway port.

Freight trains can basically arrive and leave Pingxiang Station on the same day since July. As of July this year, Pingxiang Station has handled a total of 18,902 cross-border trains, a year-on-year increase of 126%. From January to July this year, Guangxi has operated 197 China-Vietnam trains, sending 5,890 TEUs of containerized cargo, an increase of 18.67% and 25.32% year-on-year respectively.
