The table grape pre-campaign was positive and its a sign that the 2022/2023 campaign will be a success

Peruvian table grape shipments increased by 66.5% between May and July

The Peruvian table grape season takes place between October and March and there is a lot of expectation of what Peru can do in the 2022/2023 campaign. In fact, at the end of June 2022, the general manager of the Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid), Alejandro Cabrera Cigaran, projected that Peru would export no less than 70 million boxes of table grapes in the 2022/2023 campaign.

Fernando Cilloniz Benavides, president of the Inform@cción consulting firm, stressed that there's been a positive table grape pre-campaign, which is an unequivocal sign that the 2022/2023 campaign will be a success.

He highlighted that it started several months before the campaign (dispatches began in May) and that exports are well above the volume recorded in the same months of the previous year. Between May and July of this year, Peru exported 5,532,568 kilos of table grapes, i.e. 66.5% more than in the same period of the previous year. "This is a sign that the 2022/2023 grape campaign will be greater than the previous campaign where our country exported 64,800,000 boxes (of 8.2 kilos each)," said Cilloniz.
