The Ecuadorian yellow dragon fruit gains entry to China

According to a recent announcement issued by the General Administration of Customs of China, according to relevant Chinese laws and regulations and the "Protocol between the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Bureau of Plant and Animal Health Control of the Republic of Ecuador on Phytosanitary Requirements for Ecuadorian Dragon Fruit Exported to China", from now on, Ecuadorian yellow and red commercial-grade dragon fruits that meet relevant requirements are allowed to be imported.

Compared with the red-skinned dragon fruit, the Ecuadorian yellow-skinned dragon fruit (also known as "Kirin fruit") is more anticipated by the Chinese market. It is understood that in 2021, Ecuador exported a total of 17,895 tons of yellow dragon fruits, an increase of 60% from 11,260 tons in 2020.

Kirin fruit is available year-round in Ecuador, and the two peak harvest periods in a year are December to March and May to June. Kirin fruit is rich in nutrients, and its Brix can reach more than 18. It contains vegetable albumin and anthocyanin, which are rare in regular plants, and rich in vitamins and water-soluble dietary fiber.
