Kivits-Goes Handling acquires two Fresh Pack Logistics cold stores

In Barendacht, the Netherlands, Kivits-Goes Handling has, retrospectively from July 1, acquired two Fresh Pack Logistics' cold store activities. All FPL 1 and FPL 4 cold store customers and roughly 40 employees were also transferred.

Along with these activities, the TFC activities (Transport, Forwarding, and Customs) have also been taken over and merged with another of the Kivits Logistics Group's companies, Kivits-Goes Customs.

The Kivits Logistics Group and the Olympic Food Group are family businesses that have a long-standing relationship. They share the values of quality, sustainability, and personal partnerships. After the initial talk of a possible takeover, things happened fast, thanks to mutual trust and cooperation. The Olympic Food Group confidently transfers its staff and clients to Kivits Logistics Group.

The Kivits Logistics Group includes different companies and locations, so it can offer total supply chain management. From freight forwarding and customs clearance to an extensive range of VAL services like importing, exporting, and packaging products. That, combined with the Kivits Drunen's transportation and distribution network, ensures customers are completely unburdened.

The cooperation between these Dutch companies partly added extra value for all involved. "We're pleased to have reached an agreement with the Olympic Food Group. All parties were convinced that a partnership would benefit the companies, employees, and, of course, clients. When Fresh Pack Logistics indicated it was considering selling, we discussed it constructively. That resulted in this acquisition. We're sure customers can rely on the quality and the logistics service improving further."

Lennart van den Heuvel: “In early 2022, I acquired shares in Fresh Pack Logistics from my family; unaware that, in the first quarter already, we'd be facing the impact of energy and global logistics crises. Also, while I'm familiar with fruit and vegetable trading, a logistics company is a completely different ballgame. From a strategic perspective, the logistics activities we did for third parties didn't add much either. That's why we're delighted to transfer the FPL 1 and FPL 4 activities to Kivits-Goes Handling."

"They're very experienced in refrigerated food logistics. Everyone working at these sites will join them, and client continuity is guaranteed. The constructive way in which the agreement was reached reinforced that confidence. We'll keep managing logistics for our trading companies (Olympic Fruit, Hoofdman-Roodzant, and Freshpride). That will be done as Fresh Pack Logistics at the FPL 2 and FPL 3 locations," Lennart concludes.

Kivits-Goes Handling is part of the Kivits Logistics Group, and several of its board members are shareholders. The Kivits Logistics Group is a 75-year-old family business comprising a group of logistics companies. In the last 20 years, they have developed strongly in the refrigerated food logistics area.

The Kivits Logistics Group distinguishes itself by offering transparent partnerships with plenty of added value and unburdening. It employs 600 people and has roughly 15 cold stores in Benelux. The company also does a lot of Value Added Logistics with a transport branch that runs 150 refrigerated trucks daily.
