Three Peruvian unions of carriers decided on Monday to lift the indefinite strike, after signing a memorandum of agreements with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. With this step, the protests at the national level have been practically dissolved.
The Ministry of Transport announced on via social networks that the leaders of Lima and the neighboring province of Callao signed the act, after holding talks with the Deputy Minister of Transport, Luis Rivera.
On Sunday, 70% of the carrier groups had signed the agreements with the ministry, but there was a minority group that kept up the stoppages. The leaders who agreed to lift the strike this Monday were Ricardo Pareja, from the Chamber of Urban Transport; MartĂn Valeriano, from the National Association for the Integration of Transporters (Anitra), and Emeterio Valdiviezo, from the Association of Transporters’ Union Companies (Asetraca).
