Ecuador: Non-oil export losses amount of $85 million in 16 days of strikes

After 16 days of demonstrations and production stoppages, the Ecuadorian non-oil export sector has accumulated a loss of $85 million. An estimated 86% of the impact was concentrated on flowers, bananas, and broccoli. The banana sector was affected for $32 million, the broccoli sector for $6.1 million, the pitahaya for $1.2 million, and lastly, the granadilla for $221,000.

Within the non-oil export sector, floriculture is the most affected by the national strike with $34.7 million in losses, followed by bananas with $32 million, according to Fedexpor.
