Pennsylvania grower/shipper expands post-harvest technology use on fruit crops

Hazel Technologies, Inc. announces a second-year collaboration with Biglerville, Pennsylvania-based Hollabaugh Bros., Inc., a family-owned and operated grower/packer/shipper with 65+ years of experience and 500 acres under production. Hollabaugh Bros., Inc. produces 13+ commodities including apples, pears, stone fruit and cherries.

After learning more about Hazel Tech’s commitment to protecting produce and the company’s experience with pome fruit postharvest innovation, Hollabaugh trialed the ag tech company's flagship technology, Hazel 100™, on its apples and pears during the 2021 season.

“We were honestly blown away by the quality we saw after trying out Hazel 100 sachets. We had heard about the great results they have seen with apples but were amazed by the increase in shelf-life we saw for our pears,” said Wayne Hollabaugh, assistant wholesale manager at Hollabaugh Bros, Inc. “Knowing that more fruit is getting to our retailers ripe and ready for the produce floor makes us excited to use the products on our apples, pears and peaches this year.”

“It’s really rewarding when our customers have such positive experiences with our Hazel 100™ solution,” said Joe Parker, account executive at Hazel Technologies. “Our growers, packers and shippers are given peace of mind their fruits and vegetables will arrive in pristine condition when they use our products. The team at Hollabaugh is a great example of this as they have gone from trialing Hazel 100 box sachets in 2021 to incorporating both box and bin sachets into three of their commodities in 2022.”
