First four months of 2022: Chinese ports exceed 90 million TEU

The container throughput of China ports for the period January - April 2022 has slightly increased by 1.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 91 million TEU. At the same time, from January to April of 2022, the cargo volume of Chinese ports was 4,905 million tons, which translates to an even smaller year-on-year increase of 0.2%.

The following chart shows the cargo throughput and container throughput data of the twelve major ports in China:

According to China's Ministry of Transport data, the port of Shanghai remains the busiest box port in China, and in the world, with its container throughput for the first four months of the year climbing to 15.35 million TEU. Ningbo&Zhoushan and Shenzhen ports follow with 10.94 million TEU and 9.1 million TEU respectively.
