"Labor shortages in stone fruit production areas strengthens the need for fresh-extension products"

The stone fruit season has begun in the northern hemisphere. However, growers and traders are struggling with a huge challenge this season. In addition to delays due to the global shipping crisis, many production areas also suffer from a shortage of workers during the harvest season. Many ripe fruits are not harvested on time, or the post-harvest processing time is delayed. Under these circumstances, the need for fresh-keeping products in storage and transport has greatly increased. And as a result, market demand for 1-MCP is rising quickly.

Debby is the spokesperson for SPM Biosciences (Beijing), a specialized manufacturer and supplier of post-harvest fresh-keeping products and services. She introduced Angel Fresh, a fresh-keeping product suitable for peaches, apricots, and plums.

She talked about the use and the advantages of Angel Fresh: "The use of 1-MCP in refrigerated warehouses is already widely adopted in stone fruit production areas around the globe. 1-MCP is a highly effective post-harvest fresh-keeping product. 1-MCP can significantly lengthen the time that stone fruits such as peaches, apricots, and plums can spend in storage. 1-MCP effectively prevents fruit waste due to transport delays, loss of firmness, and changes in flavor," explained Debby. "When 1-MCP is used in combination with other fresh-keeping methods, such as low temperatures or climate control, then the effectiveness is even greater."

"The shelf life of plums and peaches can be extended by 50%-200% if 1-MCP is used in conjunction with cold storage."

"In addition to the use of 1-MCP in cold storage, SPM Biosciences also sells Angel Fresh fresh-keeping sachets. "The use of our sachets is very easy and convenient. Clients just need to place the card in a fruit box with a lined bag, and that is all," said Debby. "We can also manufacture fresh-keeping solutions based on different packaging sizes and different ways of using the fresh-keeping products."

SPM Biosciences (Beijing) is a professional fresh keeping company in China with their own R&D, analysis team, and service team. The company has almost 10 years of experience in the Chinese market. SPM Biosciences (Beijing) is already authorized in Argentina and the Dominican Republic and is looking for partners in other countries. “In addition to our many fresh-keeping products, we hope to work together with vegetable wholesalers, exporters, packers, and commissioned merchants to reduce wastage in the vegetable supply chain. SPM Biosciences (Beijing) can provide free samples if any one has an interest.”
