Peru: Exports from La Libertad reached US$ 521 million in first two months of 2022

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), in the first two months of the year, exports from the La Libertad region reached US$521 million. This amounted to an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2021. Mincetur also highlighted that blueberries were the product that had the best performance in the first two months of this year.

The great demand for the berry abroad was able to offset the fall in the sale of other exportable products from the region such as gold (-2%), avocado (-26%), fishmeal (-4%) and the asparagus. In 2021, exports from La Libertad reached a record US$3.900 billion, which represented an increase of 19% compared to 2020. This is due to the good performance of the sale of fruits, fishery products and minerals.

During 2021, La Libertad was the first blueberry producer in the country with a 51.9% share of the national market; In addition, it leads the production of sugar (48.4%), gold (31.5%) and avocado (29.2%).
