"Colombia is becoming increasingly strong in the production of high quality oranges"

First Colombian orange exports to the Dominican Republic

Following the opening of the US market for Colombian sweet citrus exports in 2018, the Colombian company Celifrut has once again become a pioneer with the start of orange exports to the Dominican Republic.

"This shows that Colombia is increasingly strong in the production of high quality oranges, which added to the improvement of our handling processes is allowing us to compete as a country against the best quality products in the world and in the most demanding markets," says the manager of Celifruit.

"By entering another market, we are paving the way towards a significant growth in the supply for export, adding value to Colombia's agriculture and delivering products to the world that meet every requirement from national and international regulatory and surveillance entities, in addition to the commercial requirements of customers abroad," he says.

According to Celifrut's manager, this achievement is the result of many commercial negotiations that have been going on for some time and of the willingness of the Dominican Republic, as well as of governmental support from entities such as the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), ProColombia, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

"Without forgetting, of course, the commitment and dedication of our team and the permanent support of producers, ports, suppliers and all those involved in the production chain. This has allowed us to add a new destination to our long career, backed by our trajectory as a company.

"Our goal is to continue betting on exports from Colombia, remaining committed to our customers and complying with the standards that so far have allowed us to position ourselves in the marketing of oranges and lemons in markets such as the United States, Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Guadeloupe," he says.
