UK: Conference pear prices drop by 25% compared to last week

In this week's average wholesale market prices of home grown  produce from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs the biggest increase for fruit was the price of outdoor rhubarb, which increased by 19%, from £1.57kg to £1.87kg.

Most of the prices have seen a decrease compared to last week. Conference pears are now 25% cheaper, prices for round tomatoes are 18% lower and strawberry prices have dropped by 11%.

These are averages of the most usual prices charged by wholesalers for selected home-grown fruit, vegetables and cut flowers at the wholesale markets in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and a London Market (New Spitalfields or Western International).
