Carsten Abenhardt expanded product range to include organic zucchini

"Paper banding enables cost-efficient entry into new product group"

The Abenhardt family business from Datteln (North Rhine-Westphalia) has been considered one of the largest producers of carrots for several decades. In addition to conventional carrots in different varieties, the company is increasingly dedicated to the production, preparation and packaging of organic carrots.

For packaging of its agricultural products, the company relies on the PROBAND V 2000 and its predecessor model from the Kranenburg-based machine supplier Project & Service, which enables them to band tons of vegetables every year. "The PROBAND V helps us to cost-effectively enter a new product group," says Managing Director Carsten Abenhardt, summarizing the profitability of the process.

Last year, the company ventured into the new product group of zucchinis. "However, the 2,000 tons of this vegetable have to be banded professionally," says Abenhardt. "The mature technology, the excellent service and the PROGREEN option were the three main reasons why I not only chose Project Service & Produktion as a partner last year, but also immediately purchased additional models of the new generation for this season."

The optimized process offers the company many concrete advantages in daily use, Abenhardt continues. "I particularly like the very simple threading of the band, the intelligent modular design of the machine, the control system and the practical, pictogram-based navigation."
