The Australian macadamia crop forecast has been reduced by 10 per cent, as a direct result of the recent severe weather and flooding in New South Wales and South East Queensland, confirmed the Australian Macadamia Society (AMS).
The largest macadamia producing region of Bundaberg, which accounts for around 46 per cent of Australia’s crop was not impacted by the severe weather. Harvest is well underway in this region.
The forecast is now 49,340 tons in-shell at 3.5 per cent, 52,900 tons in-shell at 10 per cent moisture, down from the original figure of 54,930 tons in-shell at 3.5 per cent, 58,900 tons in-shell at 10 per cent moisture.
