Morrisons apologizes as lettuce shelves were seen empty

Supermarket chain Morrisons has apologized as one of its stores was recently pictured with large empty sections it its meat and poultry aisle as well as in fresh fruit and vegetables. Like its rivals, Morrisons has suffered from stock shortages recently and blamed a lack of produce on low availability.

Customer information notices were placed around one store stating: “Due to disruptions within our supply chain, we are seeing low availability on lettuce. “Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.”

The Ukraine war and a number of other crises, including flooding in Spain, have raised fears of food shortages. Last month the government reassured the public that action was being taken to reduce the impact on food supply chains caused by the Ukraine crisis.
