Italy's Gali Group aims at improving its services to stay competitive

Customers and suppliers need to start working together in the logistics sector

"We knew that the exhibition event in Berlin could have been a huge enigma this year, and indeed, our doubts were confirmed at the opening of Fruit Logistica 2022, when we all noticed a reduced number of exhibitors and also visitors," said Angelo Galifi, logistics director of Gali Group, an Italian company engaged in logistics and specialized in the cold supply chain.

"The resumption after a pandemic - continued the director - brings along, in any case, a slight optimism, at a time of great uncertainty. The key day was 6 April when, all in all, we enjoyed a greater tranquillity in engaging with the various operators. In the end, the balance was positive. We provided assistance to our customers as well as the transfer service to the fair by our partner NTB. From now on we count on being involved in the many opportunities that involve the supply chain".

"Our company - explained Galifi - is trying to counteract the problems that are affecting the sector, by providing dedicated services aimed at increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of our fruit and vegetable producers. As a matter of fact, by interacting also with supermarket chains, we are able to offer faster services with pick-up on day A and delivery in the main Italian platforms on day B by early evening, and on day C for most of the main Austrian, German and Swiss distribution chains. This has been possible thanks to the significant investment in new proprietary vehicles that allow us, with the interchange of trailers and drivers in central Italy, not to stop the freight in transit."

"In this historical time of geopolitical stress that is affecting all market sectors, we must stop dealing with each other as client and supplier and we must start operating with each other like partners, since we are part of the same supply chain, by establishing relationships based on transparency, in order to reduce inefficiencies on both sides".
