Scotts look to step into the global fruit and vegetable processing, pre-cleaning market

Scotts Precision Manufacturing Ltd will be exhibiting for the first time at Fruit Logistica 2022, held in Berlin 5th – 7th of April in Hall 5.1 B22.

“Behind the scenes we have been continually developing our industry leading Evolution Separator, best known for its ability to give exceptional cleaning capacity amongst most root crops,” says Derek Scott, Managing Director.

“15 years constant development of the separator together with everything we have learnt along the way, has enabled us to further develop the system to perform equally well with a number of fruits, vegetables, brassicas and alliums.”

Diverse range of crops
Derek points to particular successes in a diverse range of crops apart from potatoes, including bell peppers, apples, celeriac, shallots, beets, tomatoes and brussel sprouts. Each crop generally requires a slightly different approach, he says, utilising specifically designed extraction rollers, different shaft speeds, adding of water as a lubricant and additional attachments to better control the flow of crop and increase leaf and vine removal.

Scotts enjoy a strong demand for the Evolution separator worldwide, primarily for potato and carrot growers and processers, Derek says.

Broadening appeal
“We are looking to broaden the appeal of our separator with a strong commitment to showcasing the potential of our machine by attending a number of European Exhibitions including Fruit Logistica, Potato Europe, Interpom, EIMA, Agritechnica and some smaller regional events closer to where the more exotic crops are produced.

“Its very important for us to have direct contact with the end user to better understand the specific needs and drive further development. Being face to face at these events with potential future customers is by far the best way to work.”

To support this future growth Scotts have recently appointed James Hinsby, Export After Sales Manager based near Salzburg Austria. James brings with him 20 years in the agricultural sector, managing various farming operations throughout Europe and the Eastern block.
