Karmen field scales now lighter

In addition to being reliable and extremely practical, Karmen field scales are now even lighter. This piece of equipment is useful for packaging the produce directly upon harvesting and can be hooked on to all types of stands or benches.

Karmen scales

"We modified the structure of the scales, which are now made entirely of aluminum instead of steel. This softer and lighter metal enabled us to reduce the weight by 1.8 kg, passing from the 4.9 kg of the previous version to the 3.1 kg of the current one, making the scales easier to move while in the fields," explains Giuseppe Rescina, technical manager and designer at Rescina Service, a company located in Noicattaro (Bari).

"Although the thickness of the metal has increased from 1.5 mm (old version) to 2 mm, we still managed to reduce the overall weight, guaranteeing the same sturdiness. The difference in weight (1.8 kg) might seem minimal but, for operators working in the fields every day, moving a tool that is lighter by almost 2 kg is much easier. This way, harvesting becomes faster and more productive."

The supports, top and tiltable table (adjustable in depth) make packaging easier, as they are suitable for all kinds of containers up to max 25 kg. The movable helical wire inside the display box makes the display itself and the control buttons, movable, facilitating the control of weight on the stands.

"Over the next few days, we will deliver the first 80 pieces to some companies in Morocco and more precisely in Marrakech, plus there will be deliveries to companies in southern Italy. The scales were designed for table grapes, but they can also be used for other products such as cherries and other types of stone fruits."
