Geek+ to deliver 112 autonomous robots to Hessing's 'Factory of the Future'

The German company, Geek+, specializes in AMR solutions. In the Netherlands, Hessing Supervers does the same for processed fruit and vegetables and ready-to-eat meals. These two companies partnered up, and a fleet of 112 autonomous mobile robots will be supplied, implemented, and maintained at Hessing's "Factory of the Future' in Greenport Venlo, the Netherlands.

This is the largest logistics solution of its kind in Europe in this industry. It will dramatically increase production and distribution efficiency, translating directly into reduced food waste and fresher consumer products. It thus gives substance to Hessing's Green Future Strategy.

Geek+'s M200 robots link the individual processing operations and control the complex logistics streams to move various fresh fruit and vegetable through the washing, mixing, and packaging stations. The robots have SLAM navigation and 3D obstacle sensors that detect any obstructions in front of them. The smart, advanced AI control system optimizes hundreds of robots' transport, avoiding traffic jams.

"Hessing always wants to use innovation to improve the end product for our customers. We've done exactly that by automating the production site with Geek+'s AMR solutions, and we've given substance to the Factory of the Future. We can now, sustainably, get even more high-quality, healthy products into supermarkets and onto consumers' plates. And faster than ever before," says Hans Hessing, Director of Hessing's Center of Excellence.

Jan Jongbloets, Managing Director Northern Europe at Geek+ Europe, says, "This project with Hessing is a telling example of how robots are responding to increasing consumer needs. The AMRs we'll deploy in Hessing's Factory of the Future speed us the fruit and vegetable processing and distribution and make it more efficient. We're proud of how our AMR solutions can contribute to food products' quality, sustainability, and freshness."

De robots van Geek+'s robots will operate independently on two of the production plant's three stories. They will not only increase productivity and fully manage the flow of goods. These robots will also work, alongside production staff, in an open environment, following the highest safety standards.
