Mourad Ben Salem, Med’Essor – Friday January 28th, from 4.30 to 11am

Two great chefs to celebrate the Tunisian Maltese orange in Rungis

The atmosphere will be festive this Friday at the Rungis market. Mourad Ben Salem, manager of the wholesale company Med’Essor, decided, in collaboration with Gifruits (Tunisian fruit interprofessional group), to honor the Tunisian Maltese orange by organizing an event with two great chefs.

“For the occasion, we have brought the famous Tunisian chef Mounir Arem, creator and manager of the restaurant ‘Le Baroque’, and president of the Tunisian delegation representing the National Academy of Cuisine in France. He will be accompanied by Amine Jeribi, active member of the National Academy of Cuisine, chef and Mediterranean cuisine lover. During this event, both chefs will propose tastings that honor the Tunisian Maltese orange.”

Mourad wants to give visibility to this citrus fruit, strongly believing in its potential. “Today, the Maltese orange is well known by the third generation, but not so much by young people. The goal of this event is to rekindle the interest for this fruit among consumers and to highlight its many assets. It is a sweet orange that is very juicy and can be consumed as a juice or table orange. This year, the sector has expressed a strong desire to gain in quality. The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture and Gifruits have indeed joined forces to reduce the inputs on crops and the use of phytosanitary products.”

Med’Essor offers the Tunisian Maltese orange under its own Med’Essor brand, created in 2008. “Through our brand, we bring a certain guarantee to our clients in terms of quality, certification and service.”

The season of the Tunisian Maltese orange started on January 17th, with a good start. “In terms of caliber, we have a nice balance which allows us to satisfy all our clients. As the season evolves, the Brix degree of the Maltese will continue to increase. We are inviting you all this Friday to come discover this Tunisian citrus fruit which will be sold under our Med’Essor brand for a few more weeks!”
