Italy's Masseria Fruttirossi reaches the Arab Emirates with its pomegranates

Lome Super Fruit pomegranates are now available in supermarkets in the United Arab Emirates. "We have brought to fruition the negotiations that have been underway for some time, namely the expansion of our brand beyond Europe. Today the first container of Wonderful pomegranates left the Castellaneta (Taranto, Apulia) plant - on 24 January - destined for a number of Emirates supermarket chains. We are talking about 20 tons of product that will arrive at the port of entry on 7 February 2022, and will then be distributed to the various outlets," said Dario De Lisi, sales manager of Masseria Fruttirossi.

"The pomegranate is a much appreciated fruit in the Arab Emirates, mainly because there is an ancient tradition of consumption. We are happy and proud of the result obtained and for being able to bring Italian pomegranates to markets overcrowded with global imports. We are approaching the end of the 2022 season, so I don't think we will be able to supply further, given the long time it takes to reach our destination. However, this transaction will allow us to enter into important trade agreements at the beginning of next year with these markets, which are known for their high consumption trends".

"We were able to conclude this important export operation, despite the fact that the increase in maritime transport is not helping shipments, as it makes the product less competitive on the markets. We owe our appreciation to our customers, who were sensitive and aware of the significant increases in container freight rates, which in some cases have tripled compared to a year ago. With regard to European shipments, we continue with daily deliveries to many countries, especially Germany, Switzerland and France."
