The potato harvest corresponding to the autumn-winter 2021/2022 cycle has already begun in Sinaloa. According to Gildardo Gonzalez Saldivar, the president of the Specialized Potato Section of the private agricultural sector, the sector expects to harvest nearly 380,000 tons in the 12,600 hectares devoted to potato production in the current cycle in Sinaloa.
Producers will start by harvesting the fresh potatoes destined to cover the needs of the frying industry at the national level. Then, they will continue with the potatoes destined to supply the national fresh consumption market.
González is confident that producers will obtain a good production because the weather conditions throughout the cycle allowed the crops to have a good vegetative development.
He also said that potato harvesting work would gradually increase during the next two months until it became generalized in the different agricultural production areas.
