Event takes places March the 23rd – March the 25th

Agritrade’s 20th edition will be an in-person event

The 20th edition of Agritrade will take place in Guatemala, from March the 23rd to the 25th. Although the organization did contemplate whether the event should take place virtually, the current pandemic situation should make an in-person event possible. Extra measures will be taken to ensure the safety of everyone attending.

William Turton, commercial counsellor for the Embassy of Guatemala in the Netherlands, states the organization seriously considered a virtual event for the 20th edition. “About a year ago, we had discussion on whether this year’s edition would be a virtual event. However, the crisis has started to change and we now feel an in-person event is not impossible to achieve. There’s currently no lockdown in Guatemala, unlike in some European areas and the organization has done everything it can in terms of safety measures to ensure a safe event.”

Agritrade will see exhibitors from the entire Central American region, Turton states. “Visitors will be asked to keep a safe distance from each other, as well as wear face masks. PCR testing or vaccination will also be required to enter, as is common now in international protocols for Covid-19,” Turton explains. He is hoping for a successful event: “Companies from the entire Central American region will exhibit during Agritrade. Not just the fruit and vegetable sectors will be represented during the exhibition. The material supply, transport and logistics, processed products as well as foliage and flowers sectors will be participating in the event.”

“For Dutch companies within these sectors, we have set up special incentives to help them attend the event. This means hotels and travel will be taken care of, and we’ll help by filling their agenda with meetings if these companies so desire. Companies can apply for these incentives and we’ll look at each case individually.” Turton concludes.
